I have fond memories baking and eating cookies with Great Grandma Whiting when visiting her. I remember sitting in her blue rocking chair just munching away. She always had cookies for us kids. This recipe is from her sister Helen, our Great, Great Aunt Helen.

Preheat oven to 360.
Precook 1 cup raisins in water slowly till water is absorbed. Mix the following ingredients:
1 Cup butter
1 Cup white sugar
1 tsp cinnamon
1 tsp salt
1 tsp vanilla
2 eggs
Dissolve 1 tsp soda in 4 tbsp of juice raisins. Combine the following in a separate bowl.
1 Cup raisins
2 Cups flour
2 Cups oatmeal
1/2 Cup nuts (optional)
Mix all ingredients together.
Scoop onto cookie sheet and bake 11 minutes at 360.
