My co-worker Sarah shared this chocolate sheet cake recipe. It's very moist!
Combine in a bowl and set aside:
2 C. flour
2 C. sugar
Combine in a saucepan and bring to a boil:
2 sticks butter
1 C. water
4 T. cocoa
As soon as mixture starts to boil, pour over sugar and flour and beat until well blended. Then add:
½ C. buttermilk
2 eggs
1 t. baking soda
1 t. vanilla
Beat well and pour batter in a greased and floured cookie sheet (deep, large size). Bake 20 minutes at 400 F. or until toothpick inserted in center is clean. Don’t overbake. Leave in pan and pour icing over top while cake is hot.
Icing
1 stick of butter
4 T. cocoa
6 T. milk
Put all ingredients into a saucepan, stirring and blending until almost ready to boil. Remove from heat and add:
1 lb. box powdered sugar
1 t. vanilla
1 C. chopped pecans
Beat until sugar is well blended and mixture begins to stiffen a little. Pour over hot cake.
